New MHQ Layout System

Starting today, we are updating MHQ to a new, hand-written layout system that addresses many issues we've had in the past, the most noticeable being that it now looks the same in all browsers and operating systems (so you may some some messed up pages every now and then). While that may the only immediate change, it supports a lot of of other things as well. For example, should you decide to create a skin for MHQ, while before being limited to just having custom CSS and images showing up in the same basic template, you can now create custom HTML, showing MHQ in whatever way you want, while still retaining the content of the page. If you found the need to create a webpage (say for your fan game or something) that needs to math MHQ, you can now do that by calling some predefined functions! You can ever hide the sidebar or the whole layout if you want. Also, the affiliates at the bottom are now automated, meaning we will only have to change them in one place. Although, that won't take full effect until...(to be continued)

Other M Release & Website

Nintendo of Japan announced yesterday that Metroid: Other M has been slated for a Summer 2010 release in Japan and a Winter 2010 Release in the U.S. They have also launched the official Japanese website for it at Metroid.jp, which shows japanese narration in Japanese (presumably Samus) that says, when translated, "That Dream -- it was like watching a playback of a tragedy that actually occurred." It's then followed by Samus looking out into some city (the same one seen in the trailer). It's a bit sad that we'll get it second, but at least it's not being pushed back to 2011. This also seems to stifle the rumors of a March 25, 2010 release. We'll bring you more Other M news when it becomes available.

Metroid Prime Trilogy Production Ceased

Several gaming sites, all of them attributing their source to Coffee with Games, claim that Nintendo has stopped production of Metroid Prime Trilogy. In their defense, Nintendo themselves did warn us about this when they announced the game, stating, "When first introduced, it was announced that there would be limited availability." Being only about 4 months after it's release, it would appear that Nintendo has succeeded in creating somewhat of a collector's item for Metroid fans (I sooooo lucked out that I picked up a copy by now...). They do, however, state that it should still be available via resales and the like. So, if you're wanting to get this trilogy before they're all taken, best get to the nearest game retailer ASAP.
We've also got some MHQ news to announce shortly, so be sure to stay tuned for that...

Recent Downtime

If you tried to visit MHQ in the past 12 hours or so, you may have noticed that the site was a big 404 error and that the forums were black and white. This was due to the fact that our host was having problems with failed hard drive (which MHQ happened to be on). We are extremely fortunate that they were able to resolve the issue in a timely fashion and restore just about everything that was lost. MHQ would be in pretty bad shape had they not been able to do that, so we thank them. The only thing that should be affected is our affiliate listing, which I will re-correct shortly. Thank you all for your patience.
