So, funny story:

At the end of April, Falcool gave me the podcast and told me to release it since he would be busy the next few days. So I told him ok and then forgot about it until Falcool showed up today and went "WTF" and so I just now launched it! A week late! How funny is that! Haha! (I am really really sorry for the late podcast guys.)

This month, we speak to composer Mozzaratti, who contributed to the Harmony of a Hunter albums, about his music and background in Metroid. We also discuss the story of Metroid. You can discuss this podcast in our forum topic here. Falcool-style timetable incoming:

Intro/News: 0:00-1:40
Interview: 1:40-9:04
Discussion Board: 9:04-20:09
Ending/Bloopers: 20:09-24:53

We've just received word that Blake Robinson, the gentleman behind The Blake Robinson Synthetic Orchestra, has published a new album today!

His new album, Super Metroid Symphony, has been released to commemorate the 19th anniversary of Super Metroid. I have listened to some of the previews for the songs, and I promise you will not be disappointed by the quality of the music.

The album is available for download for $10.00 USD on iTunes (as MP3s) and Loudr (as DRM-free MP3s or FLAC).
MHQ Marathon Planning

Hey everyone! You'll never guess what. It's February! That means we're less than half a year from MHQ's big ninth anniversary! We don't quite know when yet, but we're planning on having our third annual Metroid marathon somewhere around then as well, and we're hoping to get some of your help making this the best one yet.

We've already got some ideas being tossed around behind the scenes, but before we finalize anything we want to hear from you. If you were around for our previous marathons, tell us what you liked about them! Tell us what you think we could have done better! Even if you've never seen us do our Metroid thing, you can still give us some crazy ideas for various shenanigans we could get up to as the week progresses! Feel free to drop us a comment here, on the forum thread, or through a private message. Also, if you know of anyone who hung around on the stream the last couple years who might not frequent MHQ (I'm looking at you, Zelda Eternity), do let them know about this! We want their opinions just as much as yours!

Earlier today, Nintendo held a globally broadcast Nintendo Direct where they unveiled a number of things upcoming for the Wii U. And, while it was a glorious day for Zelda fans and other video games series, there was a bit of Metroid news in the mix. Coming soon in 2013, the Virtual Console for the Wii U will launch, and with it (to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of the NES) a new release every month until July will come out at a discounted price of 30¢ for 30 days. For the month of May, the game is Super Metroid, which will be playable on both the TV or gamepad. We'll be sure to keep you updated on any further information pertaining to its Wii U VC release, so be sure and keep your browser right here at MHQ!

Basically we panicked and packed together a short and very unserious podcast as our final one this year. Don't forget though, next year we'll be back with a much better podcast in a much better format, and we'll be bringing you new guests and segments. For now, enjoy!

Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run NOW AVAILABLE

As Falcool mentioned in his previous news post, Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run is now officially available for download! Currently, the album is available in MP3 format, with plans to release a FLAC version in the very near future.

You can download the album directly from here. Additionally, all images and art media for the album can be viewed and downloaded here.

As an alternative, Shinesparkers has the album available as a torrent download. You can download the .torrent file here. You will need a torrent P2P client such as BitTorrent to download the album this way. We also kindly ask all who use the torrent to please SEED the album - this keeps download times down for everyone else in the world.

Finally, just to remind everyone, I will be writing and releasing a full-length, detailed critical analysis review on the new album sometime this week. Keep your eyes on MHQ for this article!

Hey there folks, it's Emperor with a quick announcement regarding NCFC! NCFC stands for the Nintendo Community Fangame Convention, which is a yearly online convention that's all about Nintendo fangames. Registrations opened a week ago, and the event is set to start in a week from now. So if you're a fangame creator and have got a fangame in development, I would definitely head on over to their website and sign up for a fangame booth. It only takes a few minutes to register your fangame for the event, and it's a great way to get the word out. For everyone else, it's a good place to find new fangames that will definitely keep you occupied for hours.

So once again, NCFC will start November 12th, make sure to visit once they do!

We just wanted to a take an (admittedly late) opportunity to congratulate our friends over at the Metroid Database for 16 years on the web. (For those whoa re not Internet people, 16 years is a long time for any website to have been up, especially a video game fan site.)

To celebrate themselves, they've release the 6th edition of their "Wave Beam" podcast, which can be accessed here. It's lengthy, but be sure to give it a listen if you've got the time.

Additionally, they've unveiled and begun their 4th annual art contest, the rules and specifics of which can be found here. Their contests are always fun, so be sure and enter!
Congrats again to MDB on 16 years; I'm sure we'll be in store for 16 more!

Basically we've done a shorter podcast this month (20 min, half of what we normally do) and in it we talk mostly about Metroid Blast and the Wii U in general. Even if you don't like Metroid Blast you should probably listen though, because we pretty much have one positive guy (me), one neutral guy (Emp) and one negative guy (Elias) on this one, so there's critique as well as praise. It's mainly info and discussion but we have some bloopers towards the end as well. It's a short and fun podcast, and one of my better editing sessions to be sure, so I hope you give it a listen! Do you guys like having this shorter format? If you do, make sure to let us know in the comments, on the FB page or on the forums!
